A six-month prospective evaluation of personality traits, psychiatric symptoms and quality of life in ayahuasca-naive subjects

Abstract

Six-month prospective study of 23 ayahuasca-naive subjects before and after their first ayahuasca experience in a religious setting. Santo Daime subjects showed reduced psychiatric symptoms and improved mental health. Changes in personality toward more independence and optimism persisted at 6 months.
