Long-term ayahuasca use is associated with preserved global cognitive function and improved memory: a cross-sectional study with ritual users

Abstract

Cross-sectional study of 48 participants comparing experienced ayahuasca users (>20 years), beginners (<3 years), and controls. Long-term ritualistic users showed preserved global cognitive function and improved memory performance. No cognitive deficits associated with prolonged ayahuasca use in religious context.
