Abstract

Systematic review of 29 preclinical studies examining ayahuasca and its alkaloids for pain and inflammation. Found antinociceptive effects of harmine and harmaline involving serotonergic, opioid, and GABAergic systems. Identifies potential mechanisms for pain treatment at central and peripheral levels.
