Systematic review of all ayahuasca studies using animal models. Covers behavioral, neurochemical, and toxicological findings. Preclinical evidence supports antidepressant, anxiolytic, and anti-addictive effects. Identifies knowledge gaps including lack of chronic administration studies and need for dose standardization.
