Neuroimaging study
Abstract

7T MRI study of 21 experienced ayahuasca users showing cortical structural differences in regions rich in 5-HT2A receptors. Repeated ayahuasca use was associated with cortical thickness changes in posterior cingulate and precuneus regions. Molecular signature analysis linked structural changes to serotonergic receptor density.
