Abstract

Investigated ayahuasca compounds' antiparasitic potential against Trypanosoma cruzi (Chagas disease). Harmine and DMT showed immunomodulatory effects and reduced parasitaemia in animal models. First evidence of ayahuasca alkaloids' anti-parasitic properties, opening a novel therapeutic avenue.
