Abstract

Examined effects of ayahuasca exposure during early development in rats. Juvenile rats showed alterations in brain monoamine levels (serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine) and behavioral changes. Higher doses produced anxiogenic effects. Highlights importance of caution regarding ayahuasca use during pregnancy and early development.
