Reproductive Toxicology (2018)

Preclinical in vivo
Abstract

Rats treated with ayahuasca during gestation at 4X-8X human ritual dose showed mortality, kidney injury, and neuronal loss. At non-lethal doses, enhanced embryolethality and fetal anomalies were observed. Results highlight importance of dose-dependent toxicity and caution during pregnancy.
