Abstract

Six-month prospective study following 63 participants in Amazonian ayahuasca retreats. Found reductions in depression and anxiety persisting at 6 months, with associated changes in DNA methylation of the SIGMAR1 gene (sigma-1 receptor). Epigenetic analysis also examined FKBP5 and BDNF candidate genes.
