Cross-sectional survey
Abstract

First quantitative study of psychosocial factors in guided psychedelic group settings. Adapted the Communitas Scale (Cronbach's alpha = 0.92) and surveyed 886 participants. Communitas during ceremony significantly correlated with increases in psychological wellbeing (r = 0.22) and social connectedness (r = 0.25). Path analyses showed that positive relationships between participants and facilitators, and perceived emotional support, facilitated the emergence of communitas.
